Online Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Social Sciences

Online Learning

The UW Online Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Social Sciences is a great option for those working full time and those who live outside the Seattle area. The program is offered completely online, giving you the flexibility to do your coursework largely on your own schedule and at your own location.

How Online Learning Works

From your computer, you’ll connect to an online learning management system called Canvas. This web-based software allows you to access course materials, including recorded lectures, and interact with faculty and fellow classmates in online forums at any time.

As with a classroom course, you start and finish each online course with the rest of your cohort. All students have the same deadlines, and you will need to keep up with all lectures, readings and assignments.

Technology Requirements

  • Computer able to run recent versions of major web browsers
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection
  • Webcam and microphone (recommended)

In addition, you may need access to one or more of the following tools and technologies for some courses: Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Windows Media Player or QuickTime. If a course relies on software that is beyond the basic technology requirements, it will be indicated in the course introduction.

Technical Support

UW Continuum College will provide phone and email technical support related to course access issues, technology questions and other aspects of the Canvas environment. In addition, students also have access to support through UW Information Technology (UW-IT).
